Bogdan Zgherea concludes his collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, after information about his service contract, worth 300 thousand lei annually, appeared in the public space. The case has generated controversy and criticism regarding the size of the remuneration, as the 21-year-old vice-president of the PAS Youth Organization has not completed his university studies, reports IPN.
The decision to terminate the collaboration before the contract’s expiration was announced by the Minister of Culture, Cristian Jardan. He mentioned that Bogdan Zgherea’s remuneration should have been reassessed in relation to his level of education and clarified that the two agreed to end the collaboration. The Minister mentioned that the decision to keep him on his team was entirely his own and was not imposed by anyone.
“As a minister, I should have reassessed Bogdan Zgherea’s remuneration, taking into account his level of education, but the retention in my cabinet of a man with skills and work experience already accumulated in the ministry took precedence,” the minister declared.
The subject came to public attention following an investigation by “Moldova Curata”, which showed that Bogdan Zgherea has been working at the Ministry of Culture since 2023. He was hired at the age of 18, and later held the position of advisor in the office of the former Minister of Culture, Sergiu Prodan, for a year. After the ministry found that he did not meet the higher education requirement for this position, Zgherea returned to working on the basis of service contracts.
The Ministry of Culture previously specified that the payment was determined based on the form of collaboration, volume and complexity of activities, as well as the targeted results, being comparable to the remuneration of the minister’s cabinet members.
Bogdan Zgherea has rejected the criticism that appeared in the public space and argued that his work in the ministry included involvement in several projects. He stated that the accusations are part of a disinformation campaign and attacks against PAS. According to him, in a public institution, competence, integrity, and results should prevail.
