A Moldovan family, involved in a severe accident in Greece: three people have died, and a child is in the hospital

A Moldovan family was involved in a serious road accident in Greece. The mother, one of the children and the father died, while the other child, aged seven, was hospitalized with serious injuries, reports IPN.

According to the Greek press, the accident occurred on Wednesday evening on the provincial road Nea Moudania – Sithonia, near the town of Polygyros, in the Halkidiki region. The car, registered in the Republic of Moldova and driven by a 35-year-old man, collided head-on with a tanker truck driven by a 44-year-old driver. The circumstances of the accident are yet to be determined.

As a result of the impact, the 28-year-old woman and her six-month-old daughter died on the spot. The father was extricated by firefighters and transported in critical condition to Polygyros hospital, where he later passed away. The family’s seven-year-old daughter was admitted to the same medical unit with serious injuries. The tanker driver was not injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it is in contact with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Athens and is monitoring the situation. The institution announced that it will provide additional information following the emergence of new data.



Chisinau marks 590 years since its first documentary attestation. On this occasion, the mayor Ion Ceban sent a congratulatory message, in which he emphasized that the city is not just streets, buildings or projects, but above all the people who build it, live it day by day and contribute to its development, reports IPN.

In the context of the anniversary, the inhabitants of the capital are invited to the “Te salut, Chisinau!” Festival, organized for the sixth consecutive year. The events will take place over three days in the city center, especially on the pedestrian street “Eugen Doga”, where concerts, cultural activities and events dedicated to the history of the capital are announced.

The festive program will begin at 4:00 PM, at the Cross Complex in the Metropolitan Cathedral Square, with a presentation about the history of Chisinau and the main stages of the city’s evolution.

Starting from 6:00 PM, on the pedestrian street “Eugen Doga”, the opening concert of the festival will take place. The Municipal Folk Music Orchestra of the Advahov Brothers will perform on stage, as well as artists from the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

In the context of the anniversary, the National Museum of History of Moldova is organizing the exhibition “Urban Archeology and the Hidden Memory of Chisinau”. This can be visited between July 17 and November 30 and brings together results of archaeological research carried out in recent decades, including vestiges discovered in the capital, photographs, site documents, and historical reconstructions.
