Work on the new Transfer Station in the Ciocana sector of the capital continues. The modern sorting line, intended for source-sorted waste, has already been delivered to the site, and the space is currently being prepared for its installation. In parallel, work is being carried out on the administrative building and engineering networks, reports IPN.
The Deputy Director of the “Autosalubritate” Agency, Ludmila Pavlenco, asserts that the project involves building a modern infrastructure for waste management from scratch. The investment amounts to about 26 million euros, funds obtained by the municipality with the support of external partners.

According to the municipality, in the past, waste was stored in the open air, without the capture and control of biogas, and the leachate represented a risk to the soil and the surrounding environment.
Approximately a year and a half after the start of the works, the deposit was reclaimed and secured. A system for capturing and controlled burning of biogas was installed, as well as systems for leachate collection and rainwater management.
The municipal project “Solid Waste Chisinau” is carried out with the financial support of the Chisinau City Hall, EBRD, EIB, and E5P.
