The number of acute upper respiratory tract infections has doubled at the start of the new school year. According to the National Agency for Public Health, between September 7-10, 1,129 cases were registered, compared to 548 cases reported between August 31 and September 3, reports IPN.
ANSP specifies that the return of children and students to communities can favor the spread of respiratory infections, especially due to close contact and time spent in enclosed spaces.
To reduce the risk of illness, specialists recommend frequent hand washing, adhering to cough and sneeze etiquette, and periodically ventilating classrooms. In kindergartens and schools, daily observational triage is also recommended.
Individuals who exhibit fever, cough, or runny nose are urged to avoid crowds and consult their family doctor. The ANSP also recommends a balanced diet, sufficient hydration, and adequate rest.
