The interim Attorney General Alexandru Machidon has promoted the external evaluation. Following a detailed examination of the presented materials and the provided answers, the vetting Commission has found that he fully meets the integrity criteria and unanimously voted for the promotion of the external evaluation, IPN reports.
The Evaluation Commission of Prosecutors mentions that the report was transmitted to the subject of evaluation and the Superior Council of Prosecutors, which is to decide on the conclusions of the commission within 30 days.
The Commission will publish the report, according to the procedure, after the expiration of the legal deadline for contesting the CSP decision or within three days from the issuance of a final decision by the Supreme Court of Justice.
At the end of May 2025, Alexandru Machidon, deputy of the chief prosecutor of the PCCOCS, was appointed as the acting general prosecutor, and in August he won the competition for the position of general prosecutor. However, he did not serve his full term, a fact conditioned by the vetting commission’s report. The procedure, which began on December 10, was delayed due to the lack of consensus on the report. During that period, information about the value of an apartment bought and later sold by Machidon appeared in the public space.
