President Maia Sandu is participating, for the first time, in the Will Coalition meeting in Paris, an international format for political and diplomatic coordination dedicated to supporting Ukraine. The head of state is attending the event at the invitation of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, reports IPN.
According to the Presidency, the Coalition of Will is co-chaired by France, Germany and the United Kingdom and brings together 37 states, most of them European. The purpose of the platform is to coordinate support efforts for Ukraine and to ensure a fair and lasting peace after the conclusion of a truce, to prevent a new Russian aggression. The discussions in Paris are focused on strengthening support for Ukraine.
The presidential institution emphasizes that the participation of the Republic of Moldova is a continuation of the support offered to Ukraine since the beginning of the war and is fully compatible with the neutrality status provided in the Constitution. The coalition is a flexible cooperation format, which also includes other neutral European states, and each participant independently determines the form and extent of its contribution.
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, the Republic of Moldova has offered refuge to Ukrainian citizens, facilitated the transit of exports from Ukraine, provided humanitarian and energy support, and contributed to the training of Ukrainian engineers. According to the Presidency, the security of the Republic of Moldova is closely linked to that of Ukraine, and a lasting peace in the neighboring state is essential for the stability of the entire region.
