Moldova and Romania have signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the electoral field. The document provides for the strengthening of cooperation between the Central Electoral Commission and the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania in several areas, including the protection of electoral rights and the implementation of innovative technologies in the electoral field, reports IPN.

The document was signed in Bucharest during the meeting of the CEC delegation, led by the president of the institution, Angelica Caraman, and vice-president Pavel Postica, with the leadership and representatives of the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania.

Angelica Caraman mentioned that the experience of the Permanent Electoral Authority is particularly valuable for the CEC and can be utilized in the process of aligning electoral legislation and practices with European standards, as well as in the development of joint projects for the modernization of electoral administration.

On the discussion agenda were also the specific ways in which the expertise of the Permanent Electoral Authority, accumulated also in its capacity as the electoral authority of a member state of the European Union, can contribute to strengthening the institutional capacities of the CEC.

The visit of the Central Electoral Commission delegation to Bucharest continues with work sessions and exchanges of experience with the representatives of the Permanent Electoral Authority in several areas related to the organization and administration of electoral processes.
