The Czech authorities will analyze new ways of supporting the Republic of Moldova in the context of the energy and hydrological crisis facing the country. The statement was made by the President of the Commission for Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Czech Senate, Pavel Fischer, after the meeting he had in Chisinau with the Vice President of the Parliament, Doina Gherman, reports IPN.

During a press conference, Pavel Fischer stated that he will discuss with the Government in Prague about the possibilities of supporting the Republic of Moldova during the crisis period.

The Czech official reaffirmed his support for the European path of the Republic of Moldova and mentioned that, by the end of the current year, the country should open all negotiation clusters for accession to the European Union.

In turn, Doina Gherman highlighted the necessity of cooperation with the Czech side for the development of renewable energy production and storage capacities, as well as for expertise in managing energy resources.

The Vice-President of the Parliament also emphasized the importance of strengthening economic relations between the two states. According to her, during the period 2023-2025, development projects funded by the Czech Republic in Moldova amounted to over 10.5 million euros. Currently, 45 companies with Czech capital are registered in the country.

Pavel Fischer is in Chisinau as part of a visit by a delegation of Czech senators, taking place from September 21-23. The delegation’s agenda includes meetings with several Moldovan officials, including President Maia Sandu.

MEC proposes doubling the quota allocated for inclusive education in the school budget

The quota of resources allocated for inclusive education could be doubled. The Ministry of Education and Research proposes to increase it from a maximum of 2% at present to 4% of the ceiling of expenses for general education. The money is expected to be distributed to schools based on the number of children who need support, the type and severity of disability, and the necessary specialized services, reports IPN.

At present, districts and municipalities decide how much they allocate for inclusive education, within the limit of 2% of the transfers received. According to the MEC, this mechanism leads to funding differences between regions and does not always reflect the number of children who need support. Under the new formula, schools with more students requiring specialized services would receive more resources.

The funding will be calculated separately for support teaching staff, psychologists, speech therapists, psychopedagogues, sign language interpreters, and resource centers for inclusive education.

At present, in the country’s schools, 4,791 students with disabilities are studying, 457 more than in the previous year. Of these, 2,558 have severe disabilities, 1,561 – pronounced, and 672 – moderate. There are 939 resource centers for inclusive education in operation.

The project is in the process of public approval, and the new provisions are planned to come into effect on January 1, 2027.

The administrator of a company from Chisinau was detained in a case of fraud and money laundering. According to law enforcement, he allegedly obtained over two million lei from several business agents, to whom he proposed participation in a bidding for the sale of a plot of land in the capital, reports IPN.

The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office states that the man allegedly presented himself as an authorized administrator and would have requested advance payments for the land and participation fees for the auction for the land estimated at around seven million lei.

Anti-corruption officers carried out searches at the suspect’s residence on Tuesday and collected relevant evidence for the investigation. Law enforcement continues investigations to establish all circumstances and identify any potentially involved individuals.
