The developments in the negotiation process regarding the Transnistrian settlement, as well as the security situation in the region, were discussed during a meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, and a delegation from the Commission for Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Czech Republic, visiting the Republic of Moldova, reports IPN.

During the discussions, the officials also addressed Chisinau’s efforts to solve existing problems and promote policies for the country’s reintegration.

Another topic was related to the role of the Convergence Fund in supporting the reintegration process. The Reintegration Policy Office specifies that the fund contributes to the financing of projects in fields such as social, medical, educational and infrastructure, intended for residents on both banks of the Dniester.

In context, Valeriu Chiveri thanked the Czech Republic for the constant support given to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.

The Parliament will convene on Tuesday in an extraordinary session to examine the necessity of declaring a state of emergency in the energy and hydrological sectors. The announcement was made by the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, after the National Security Council meeting, reports IPN.

Igor Grosu stated that the decision was agreed upon together with the Government and responsible institutions, following the situation analyzed within the National Security Council, convened by President Maia Sandu.

“Our common priority is to have water, gas, heat, light, and for the state institutions to work together for the safety of the people,” declared the president of the legislature.

The decision on the state of emergency was agreed upon during the meeting of the National Security Council presided over by Maia Sandu.
