The parliamentary faction of the Political Party “Our Party” will register a project to amend the legislation on the prevention and combating of domestic violence. Among the measures proposed by the deputies include the designation of a specialized police officer in each inspectorate, the temporary electronic monitoring of aggressors, and the mandatory withdrawal of weapons in high-risk situations, reports IPN.

According to the initiative, the specialized police officer would be expected to assess the risk, coordinate the victim’s protection, and monitor the enforcement of protective measures. In the event of a real and imminent danger, police intervention would be immediate, and in high-risk situations, temporary electronic monitoring of the aggressor could be ordered.

The measure is expected to be submitted to the court within no more than 24 hours and to cease after a maximum of 48 hours, if the judge does not order its continuation. If the aggressor has access to weapons, they should be mandatorily confiscated, including service ones. The deputies of the mentioned faction state that victims in high-risk situations could immediately benefit from shelter, as well as support for transportation, temporary accommodation, and psychological assistance.

At the same time, it is proposed to create a unique record that would include reports, risk assessments, protective measures, and alerts. In the case of electronic monitoring, critical alerts are expected to arrive simultaneously at the Police and the National Probation Inspectorate.

Also, the deputies of the faction of the Political Party “Our Party” have requested from the Ministry of Internal Affairs anonymized statistical data for the period 2024-2026 regarding cases of domestic violence where the aggressors are employees of the ministry, as well as information about the initiated service checks and their results.
