The President of Romania has promulgated the law approving the emergency ordinance that updated the legislative framework in the field of electronic monitoring of persons accused of committing certain offenses. “So that Romania has all the necessary regulations to meet its new obligations given by the context of joining the Schengen area,” Nicusor Dan wrote on Facebook on Monday.
The ordinance has also introduced the border proximity alert, which is triggered when a person wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet gets closer than 30 km to the border, reports IPN.
“The updated provisions, including the introduction of a border proximity alert, strengthen the authorities’ control and response capacity in real time to ensure that judicial measures are respected,” stated the Romanian president.
