The MOLDOX Documentary Film Festival returns to Chișinău this November

The MOLDOX International Documentary Film Festival returns for its 11th edition from November 25 to 29 at Cineplex Loteanu in Chisinau. For the first time in the festival’s history, the programme will feature a retrospective dedicated to French filmmaker Agnès Varda, IPN reports.

The MOLDOX Association says in a press release that the programme includes feature-length and short films previously screened at prestigious international festivals such as Sundance and San Sebastián, as well as Oscar-winning films. Locally produced documentaries will also be screened, competing for the “Green Vine” National Award for Moldovan Documentaries. Around 50 films will be shown in total, with many screenings followed by Q&A sessions with the directors.

Two special awards will be presented this year for the international film selection. The Audience Award will be decided by viewers’ votes cast after the screenings. The second distinction, the Student Award of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chisinau, will be presented by a jury of AMTAP students.

As part of the MOLDOX Lab programme, professional and amateur filmmakers, along with journalists, will have the opportunity to take part in introductory and experimental filmmaking workshops, culminating in a showcase of their projects at a dedicated event. The programme will also feature masterclasses open to the general public, led by international experts.
