Law enforcement officials are investigating a case in which four minors from the capital, aged between 12 and 16, are alleged to have offered their peers pills containing a psychotropic substance. Following checks, the police found 158 medical kits from the Soviet era, containing similar products, reports IPN.

The General Inspectorate of Police states that the report was made on Tuesday by the mother of a student, after she found an unknown pill with her daughter. Preliminary checks have shown that the pill contains a psychotropic substance. The minor told the police that she had received it from a classmate. During the investigations, law enforcement discovered that four students may have possessed and offered such pills to their peers for entertainment, without knowing their nature and composition.

Subsequently, one of the minors handed over a medical kit with pills, which he said he found in a space designated for civil protection. The checks led to the detection of another 158 similar kits, from the Soviet era, in several shelter centers. Currently, law enforcement is verifying the legality of storing and managing the kits, as well as the circumstances in which the minors had access and came into possession of the pills. A criminal case has been initiated on the matter.

The General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sports has taken notice of this case and announces that it will ask the targeted educational institutions to clarify the situation, to cooperate with the legal authorities and to take measures to protect the students. The DGEYS specifies that it will monitor the case and will intervene within the limits of its competences.
