Fuel prices continue to drop following the series of price hikes in September. According to the National Agency for Energy Regulation, on Thursday, the standard diesel will become cheaper by 41 bani per liter, and gasoline with an octane number of 95, by 9 bani, reports IPN.

Therefore, a liter of standard diesel will be sold at the pump on Thursday for 36.28 lei per liter, and COR 95 gasoline for 34.22 lei per liter.

On Wednesday, fuel prices saw their first drop after about a month of continuous increases that had pushed them to historic highs: 36.84 lei per liter for diesel and 34.35 lei per liter for RON 95 gasoline. ANRE had previously attributed the series of price hikes to rising international quotes for petroleum products, driven by tensions in the Middle East and risks regarding global fuel supplies.

On international markets, oil prices are showing mixed trends. Brent oil is trading at 102.87 dollars per barrel, up by 0.27%, while American WTI oil is quoted at 89.65 dollars per barrel, 0.30% below the previous level.

Previously, the documents for participation in the elections were submitted by Fiodor Gagauz, appointed by the Socialist Party, as well as by the deputy Alexandr Stoianoglo and the former deputy Corneliu Dudnic, both appointed by groups of citizens to run independently.

For the local elections and the local referendum on November 1, 12 polling stations will be opened in seven localities across the country. Their number was determined by the Central Electoral Commission, reports IPN.

CEC specifies that in the city of Costesti from the Rascani district, four sections will be opened, and in the localities of Chirsova and Tomai from UTA Gagauzia, two sections will operate. According to the Commission, a polling station will be opened in the village of Hasnasenii Mari from the Drochia district and in the village of Delacau from the Anenii Noi district. Also, a polling station will operate in the villages of Cairaclia and Novosiolovca from the Taraclia district.

On November 1, new local elections will take place for the election of the mayor in Cairaclia and Novosiolovca from Taraclia district, Costesti from Rascani district, Hasnasenii Mari from Drochia district, as well as Chirsova from UTA Gagauzia. In the village of Tomai from UTA Gagauzia, elections are scheduled for the Village Council, while in the village of Delacau from Anenii Noi district, a local referendum will take place regarding the prohibition of mineral resource exploitation less than one kilometer from the local built-up area.
