The Moldovan-Azerbaijani relations and prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation between Moldova and Azerbaijan were discussed by Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during his first official visit to Baku, reports IPN.
According to a statement issued by the MAE, the two officials discussed topics in fields such as economy, energy, culture and tourism. Mihai Popsoi emphasized the important role of Azerbaijan in strengthening energy security at regional and European levels, in the context of current geopolitical developments.
The head of Moldovan diplomacy reiterated the firm support of the Republic of Moldova for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Moreover, Minister Popșoi condemned the drone attacks on March 5th against the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan, which targeted civilian objectives and resulted in the injury of two civilians.
“The Republic of Moldova expresses its solidarity with Azerbaijan. Such actions are unacceptable and violate international law”, mentioned Mihai Popsoi.
Officials have reaffirmed their interest in strengthening political dialogue and exploiting the potential for cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
