President Maia Sandu has awarded the “Order of Honor” to the Deputy Minister for European Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Marilena Raouna. According to the decree signed by the head of state, the order is bestowed in recognition of her contribution to supporting the European path of the Republic of Moldova, reports IPN.
The distinction is awarded for “excellent cooperation and firm commitment to the European Union’s enlargement policy” during the period when the Republic of Cyprus held the presidency of the Council of the European Union, as mentioned in the signed decree.
The decree was signed by the head of state on June 30 and comes into effect on the date of signing.
Throughout the presidency of the Council of the European Union held by Cyprus, the Republic of Moldova opened the first group of negotiation chapters and launched technical negotiations for three other clusters.
“The Order of Honor” is a state distinction of the Republic of Moldova, conferred for outstanding merits in labor activities, substantial contributions in various fields, and civic deeds.
The distinction can be awarded to both individuals, citizens of the Republic of Moldova or foreigners, as well as organizations, institutions or groups, in recognition of their significant contributions to the development of society.
