Truck drivers crossing Hungary risk fines of up to 1,000 euros if they do not adhere to the transit routes set by the authorities. According to the National Auto Transport Agency, the new sanctions came into effect in April and are four times higher than the previous ones, reports IPN.
According to ANTA, the Hungarian authorities have increased the fine for leaving the designated road network from 100 thousand forints (approximately 250 euros) to 400 thousand forints (approximately 1,000 euros).
ANTA mentions that checks will be intensified, and the competent authorities will carry out inspections to ensure that transport operators comply with the established routes.
The institution recommends carriers to inform drivers in advance about the new rules, in order to avoid penalties and possible vehicle blockages.
