Dorin Junghietu: Transnistrian region receives 3 million cubic meters of gas daily

The Transnistrian region is receiving 3 million cubic meters of gas per day, enough to cover the needs of the population and for the operation of the Cuciurgan power plant. The announcement was made by Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu. According to the minister, the power plant is working, but it produces electricity exclusively for consumption on the left bank of the Dniester.

“There are no requests to increase this volume of gas”, the minister said during the program “Punctul pe Azi” on TVR Moldova.

The official noted that, in the absence of sufficient gas volumes, industry in the breakaway region is still shut down. “The current volumes do not allow restarting industrial processes”, the minister emphasized.

“The information that has been presented in the public space shows that the industry is operating at very low capacities, because the small volumes of gas are not enough to allow the industry to operate at full capacity”, added Dorin Junghietu.

As for the dense smoke observed in the area of the Rabnita metallurgical plant, Junghietu explained that it comes from the controlled burning of gas, necessary to maintain certain technological processes.

“I suspect that at MMZ there are technological processes that need a minimum amount of gas to operate”, said Dorin Junghietu.

Tiraspol, through Moldovagaz, buys natural gas on the international market with the financial support of the Russian Federation.

Over 2,900 consumers from the city of Chisinau and the Bubuieci commune will temporarily be without natural gas from July 20-24. Energocom specifies that the cessation of supply is necessary for the maintenance work on the gas distribution network, reports IPN.

The gas supply will be suspended starting from July 20, 09:00 AM, and is expected to be resumed after the completion of works, by July 24, 5:00 PM.

“Chisinau-gaz” will carry out works on the gas network on Uzinelor Street in Chisinau, where a technical part of the system will be replaced.

The list of affected addresses can be consulted on the company’s website. At the same time, consumers who need additional information can contact “Chisinau-gaz” at the phone numbers (022) 578-090 or (022) 578-703.
