The State University of Moldova has launched 27 modernized laboratories, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, as well as renovated lecture halls, as part of an initiative financially supported by the World Bank. At the inaugural event, organized today, the rector of USM, Igor Șarov, highlighted the importance of these investments, stating that “it is a solid foundation for new ideas, innovation and a long-term vision on quality education in the Republic of Moldova,” reports IPN.

The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sergiu Harea, as the project coordinator, reiterated the institutional commitment to extending this modernization model throughout the entire national university network.

The head of the World Bank’s expert group, Nalin Jena, applauded the efforts of USM to modernize the university curriculum, expressing confidence that students who will study based on the improved programs will be better candidates for a job.

“It is very important to provide young researchers with all the resources they need for practical research. Another desire of ours is to put higher education in Moldova on the international map, so that we can attract international students who wish to study in Moldova,” the expert mentioned.

The State University aims to launch 16 new study disciplines in the IT field, as well as equipping another 25 laboratories and educational centers with furniture, scientific-educational equipment, hardware, multimedia and network equipment, application licenses and educational software.

The total value of the investments is 150 million lei, a sum that also includes the major repair of Dormitory No. 2 of the USM. The beneficiaries of these investments are the 13 thousand students of the State University of Moldova.
