Ukraine will allocate 718 million hryvnias, equivalent to over 14 million euros, for the security and expansion of transport connections with the Republic of Moldova. The Ukrainian Ministry of Community and Territorial Development announced that this decision aims to create alternative and secure logistic routes, as a protective measure against Russian attacks on critical infrastructure, reports IPN.

The Ukrainian authorities have approved the allocation of funds to ensure the continuity of internal and international logistics, including freight and passenger transport to Moldova and Romania. The measure is considered essential in the face of repeated attacks by the Russian army, which aim to destabilize transport corridors through attacks on bridges, railways, and ports.

A key aspect of the investment targets the creation of alternative routes in the Maiaki locality area, where the main bridge was destroyed by bombings at the end of 2025. The Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Oleksii Kuleba, the Minister of Community and Territorial Development, emphasized that these backup solutions are essential for maintaining economic stability and ensuring population mobility in vulnerable regions.

Also, the plan provides for the development of infrastructure at the Yampil-Cosăuți border crossing point. This initiative will allow the creation of a backup road connection that will strengthen the resilience of transport not only in relation to the Republic of Moldova, but also in the strategic direction of the Danube ports.
