Two trains collided in Slovakia, causing at least 66 people to be injured, as well as the derailment of a locomotive and a carriage. The authorities have not reported any fatalities, reports IPN.
The accident occurred in front of a tunnel near the town of Jablonov nad Turnou, 55 km from Kosice, the main city in eastern Slovakia. The two trains collided at a point where the tracks intersect and merge into a single line. The cause of the tragedy will continue to be investigated.
The emergency medical services stated that 16 people suffered moderate or severe injuries and at least 50 were slightly injured. There were 80 passengers on board both trains.
