The US Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, has denied that Washington has set June as the deadline for concluding a peace deal in Ukraine, reports IPN, referring to The Guardian.
Matthew Whitaker stated that the mention of June came from the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and that there is no official US statement in this regard.
“We want the battles to end. We want both sides to reach a peace agreement as soon as possible, to put an end to the suffering and crimes in Ukraine,” emphasized the ambassador.
Volodymyr Zelensky announced a deadline proposed by the USA in a discussion with journalists last week, to whom he revealed details about the second round of trilateral negotiations in Abu Dhabi. According to the Ukrainian president, the American delegation proposed a clear objective: to end the war by June, based on a schedule of steps to be followed.
