The transformer of the Chișinău power station, sent for repair in Spain, has been brought back to the country, installed, and tested. The equipment ensures the station’s connection to the 330 kV network. The aerial electric line Vulcanesti–Chisinau, with a length of 157 kilometers, is in the final stage of preparation for operation, reports IPN.

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan visited the power station, where he was informed about the progress of the modernization works, the installed equipment, and the commissioning deadlines. Currently, the station is undergoing the final stages of comprehensive testing of the equipment and systems.

The overhead power line Vulcanesti–Chisinau connects the 400 kV Vulcanesti Station with the 330 kV Chisinau Station. The project is financed by the World Bank, with 61 million euros, within the framework of the Power System Development Project.

The failure of the current transformer was announced by the Ministry of Energy on August 21, after the problem was identified during the installation works of the related equipment at the Chisinau Power Station. The transformer was sent to Spain, to the manufacturing factory, for additional repairs and technical checks, which delayed the commissioning of the Vulcanesti–Chisinau power line. The initial deadline for the completion of the works was July 2025, but it was successively postponed. After several deadlines announced throughout 2026, the commissioning is estimated for the end of October.
