The director of a driving school in Chisinau and an intermediary have been detained in an influence trafficking case. The two are alleged to have received 1,500 euros from a candidate, to whom they promised to help pass the theoretical and practical tests for obtaining a category B driving license, reports IPN.

According to the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, the suspects allegedly claimed to have influence over the members of the Examination Commission within the Driver Qualification Section of the Chisinau Public Services Agency. In exchange for money, they promised to persuade the examiners to grant the candidate the “passed” qualification for both parts of the driving test.

Law enforcement officers have conducted searches at the residences and in the cars of the two individuals, as well as at the headquarters of the driving school, as a result of which relevant evidence for the criminal case was collected.

NAC mentions that both individuals were placed in the institution’s isolation unit for 72 hours.
