The number of passengers who used public transport last year increased by over 8% compared to the previous year. According to the National Statistics Office, the increase occurred against the backdrop of expanding air and urban traffic. On the other hand, freight transport stagnated, reports IPN.

According to BNS data, in 2025, approximately 333 passengers used public transportation. The increase was particularly driven by the rise in the number of passengers transported by air, growing by over 37%, but also by the increase in road and electric traffic.

BNS specifies that the journey of passengers totaled over 7.5 billion passenger-kilometers, almost 19% more than the previous year. The largest increases were recorded in air transport and in electric transport.

In the structure of displacements, electric transport accounted for over 65% of all journeys, followed by road transport, with approximately 34%. In contrast, passenger rail transport recorded a sharp decline, of over 50% compared to 2024.

Regarding the transport of goods, the relevant companies transported approximately 20.2 million tons in 2025, a volume similar to that of the previous year. However, the movement of goods decreased by about 3%, due to reductions recorded especially in road and air transport.
