The project of the Code regarding the organization and functioning of the Parliament, and the one of the Law regarding the status, conduct, and ethics of deputies will be examined by the Venice Commission during the plenary session on October 9-10, reports IPN.
The two opinions were requested by the President of the Parliament, Igor Grosu. The President of the Constitutional Court, Domnica Manole, is also participating in the session taking place in Venice, in her capacity as a representative member of the Republic of Moldova.
The new Code regarding the organization and functioning of the Parliament was adopted in the second reading at the end of August, with the votes of the parliamentary majority. The opposition voted against, criticizing, among other things, the limitation of the time allocated for speeches and the provisions regarding political migration.
The document is set to be put to the vote in the third reading, following the receipt of the Venice Commission’s opinion.
