Relatives and those who knew Eugen Doga came to bid farewell to the great master. The lifeless body of the composer was exhibited at the “Saint Theodora of Sihla” Church, where a vigil service was held, as reported by IPN.
According to the priest and pastor of the “Saint Teodora of Sihla” church, Ioan Ciuntu, the church doors will be open so that people can say goodbye to Eugen Doga until late in the evening. “Eugen Doga was open-hearted at all times and we, in turn, must remain the same”, wrote Ioan Ciuntu. He added that on June 5th, at 9:00, the funeral will take place, and at 9:50, the lifeless body of the maestro will be taken to the “Nicolae Sulac” National Palace.
Former Minister of Culture, Monica Babuc, said she feels a huge void not only in her own soul, but in the entire Romanian culture. In her opinion, Eugen Doga not only knew how to make music, but also created a lifelong model that will remain alive for a long time.
Vitalie Advahov, People’s Artist, said that the loss is a very big one, it being also a loss for the nation. He added that Eugen Doga supported him throughout his career and was like a father to him.





The funeral of composer Eugen Doga will take place on Thursday, when a national day of mourning is declared in the country. The farewell ceremony will take place at the “Nicolae Sulac” National Palace. The ceremony will begin at 10:00, after which the funeral procession will head to the Central Cemetery, where the maestro will be buried.
The composer passed away on June 3rd, at the age of 88. Eugen Doga was born in the village of Mocra, Ribnita, on March 1st, 1937. He was named an Artist of the People of the Republic of Moldova and an Artist of the People of the USSR. He was a recipient of the National Prize and the State Prize of the USSR, and was awarded with the Order of the Republic and other honorary titles and distinctions from his home country and abroad. He was also a member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova.
