The Isaccea-Vulcanesti power line was disconnected on the evening of March 23, after 07:15 PM. Bombings on critical infrastructure in Ukraine could be the cause of the incident, reports IPN.
Moldelectrica data shows that, after disconnection, electricity imports from Romania have dropped to zero.
The Ministry of Energy has confirmed the incident and specified that work is underway to identify the malfunction and restore operation.
“Work is underway to identify the fault and restore it. We will come back with details when we have exact information. At present, the intervention teams have not yet arrived at the scene,” the institution’s representatives communicated.
In turn, the National Crisis Management Center announced late at night that, following the bombings on critical infrastructure in Ukraine, there is a risk that the Isaccea-Vulcănești line may have been affected.
The authorities are monitoring the situation in real time. For now, it is not clear whether there are power outages in the Republic of Moldova.
