A new edition of the Parliamentary Opening Week is taking place from September 13 to 20. Throughout this week, a series of events dedicated to democracy, transparency, and dialogue with citizens will be held, reports IPN.
The event will be inaugurated on Saturday, at 5:00 PM, in the square of the Parliament, through the Laureates Gala of the Patriotic Music Festival-Competition “I sing to you, Homeland and Nation”, the third edition. The concert will gather 1000 participants, artistic ensembles and performers from across the country, selected following a national competition.
Starting from Monday through Friday, pupils, high school students and university students will participate in interactive activities organized both within the Parliament and outside of it. At the Democracy Hours, young people will discuss democratic values and the role of state institutions with deputies. The program also includes educational games and quizzes that target concepts such as democracy and civic participation.
The Comrat Territorial Information Office of the Parliament will organize an information session in the south of the country, with a focus on the involvement of young people in public life and in the decision-making process.
Visitors to the Parliament will be able to leave messages for deputies through an ideas and impressions box, and the most inspired ones will be published on the official pages of the parliamentary institution.
The Parliamentary Opening Week will conclude on September 20, with the organization of the Conference “Youth Decide the Future of the Republic of Moldova”.
“Through these activities, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova reaffirms its commitment to promote open dialogue, civic engagement, and the development of a generation of active and responsible citizens,” as stated in a press release from the institution.
The event is organized in the context of the International Day of Democracy, marked annually on September 15, starting from 2007, according to a resolution of the UN General Assembly.
