The former Prime Minister Munteanu declared earnings of over 216 thousand lei at the end of his term

The former Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu declared earnings of over 216 thousand lei obtained during his term in 2026. According to the wealth declaration submitted at the end of his mandate, he received a net salary of over 166 thousand lei and per diem for trips worth over 50 thousand lei, reports IPN.

According to the data published by the National Integrity Authority, the former prime minister also declared about 13 thousand dollars obtained from the sale of financial assets held through the Robinhood Securities platform.

The declaration of wealth also shows that Alexandru Munteanu owns two agricultural lands, acquired in 2022, each with an area of 0.06 hectares, as well as a 136 square meter apartment, purchased in 2023 and valued at 677 thousand euros. At the same time, he declares a BMW 750LD car, purchased in 2021, as well as bank accounts opened in the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Italy, Ukraine, and the United States of America.

The document also includes data on financial investments in the United States, among which securities held through Robinhood Securities and US Treasury titles, as well as stakes in two companies registered in Ukraine.

Alexandru Munteanu was inaugurated as Prime Minister on October 31, 2025, at the proposal of the Action and Solidarity Party, in the context of Dorin Recean’s withdrawal. Munteanu announced his resignation from office on July 3, stating that he could no longer exercise his mandate in accordance with his principles and beliefs.

The former president of the Constitutional Court, Alexandru Tanase, stated that the changes regarding the competences of the Gagauz autonomy in organizing elections do not represent an infringement on its status. “Gagauzia does not have enemies in Moldova,” Tănase declared in the show “Teritoria Svobodi” with Lilia Burakovski, reports IPN.

Alexandru Tanase also stated that Comrat is being “brazenly manipulated”. “I am very sorry that, after 30 years, other political parties are not normally represented there, and pro-Moscow oriented politicians control the situation in the autonomy”, clarified the former president of the Constitutional Court.

In his opinion, this is a backlog of Chisinau, for which the country will pay a high price due to the ignorance of the situation in the region.

He mentioned that, most likely, legislative changes will be made, according to which Chisinau will designate the electoral bodies itself that will organize the elections in Gagauzia – on the date set by the Popular Assembly.

“Gagauzia has no enemy in the Republic of Moldova. There is no politician – not even the most marginal – who would say that autonomy should be abolished or that certain competencies should be reduced,” concluded the former president of the Constitutional Court.
