Climentii Ursu is making history in Skopje. The Moldovan athlete took first place in the 10-meter Air Pistol event, thus securing the first ever gold medal in shooting won by the Republic of Moldova at an edition of the European Youth Olympic Festival, reports IPN.
“Performance comes from talent, focus, and hard work – under the passionate guidance of coach Natalia Borovetskaya, who has been with Climentii every step of the way on this path to glory”, is mentioned in a Facebook post by the National Olympic and Sports Committee.
The European Youth Olympic Festival, organized under the auspices of the European Olympic Committees, is a multi-sport competition intended for young athletes from Europe. The festival provides a valuable platform for those who aspire to participate in future European, world championships, and the Olympic Games. The first edition took place in Brussels, Belgium, in 1991.
The Republic of Moldova is represented at the competition in Skopje, North Macedonia, by a group of 23 athletes, who are participating in athletics, swimming, judo, taekwondo, badminton, cycling, table tennis, and shooting events.
