The families of the two police officers who lost their lives in the accident at Sangerei will each receive one million lei from the state. The government approved, in Wednesday’s meeting, the allocation of two million lei from the Reserve Fund, as material aid, reports IPN.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu expressed his deep sorrow following the tragedy in Sangerei, where two young police officers lost their lives while performing their duties. “It is a heavy loss for families, for colleagues from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and for the entire society”, the Prime Minister stated.
The two police officers, aged 25 and 29, were struck by a car in Grigorauca, Sangerei District, while they were issuing a citation on the shoulder of the road, next to their patrol car, which was parked in accordance with regulations. Both sustained serious injuries and were taken to the hospital, where they later died.
According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the driver, who claimed to have fallen asleep at the wheel before the collision, was detained.
