The European Program for the Defense Industry (EDIP) – a tool worth over one billion euros, intended to strengthen the response capabilities of the defense industry during the period 2025-2027 – was adopted on Monday by the Council of the European Union, reports IPN.
The European forum has stated that, out of the total program sum, 300 million euros will be allocated to Kiev. This essential and unique tool aims at modernizing and supporting Ukraine’s defense industry, as well as integrating it into the European defense industrial ecosystem.
Through the program, joint acquisitions made by at least three countries will be funded, of which at least two must be member states of the European Union, including for the creation and maintenance of industrial preparedness reserves in the field of defense. Thus, the Republic of Moldova will be able to benefit from this measure.
