The death of the educator from Hancesti: two criminal proceedings have been initiated

Law enforcement is investigating the death of teacher Ludmila Vartic from Hancesti, initiating two criminal cases to determine the circumstances of the tragedy. The case has sparked numerous reactions after information emerged in the public space that the woman may have been a victim of domestic violence, which could have led her to commit suicide. According to the police, the victim had not previously filed complaints, and now her phone and that of her husband, Dumitru Vartic, have been seized for checks, reports IPN.

The head of the General Inspectorate of Police, Viorel Cernăuțeanu, clarified for the press that one of the cases is investigating the circumstances of the death in Chișinău, while the other is aimed at clarifying details related to the couple’s relationship. He emphasized that the information, according to which the victim would have been buried without conducting a forensic examination, does not correspond to reality – the examination was carried out, and the police are waiting for its result.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Daniella Misail-Nichitin, told journalists that Ludmila Vartic had left a farewell note. However, the authorities have decided not to make its content public, in order to respect the family’s privacy.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection announces that social assistance specialists are involved in managing the situation, and the victim’s children are being monitored to ensure their protection and necessary support. The family was not previously known to the authorities as being at risk.

The National Agency for the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Family Violence has taken notice and sent requests to ministries, the prosecutor’s office, and local authorities to analyze the intervention methods of the responsible institutions.

Authorities remind that women and girls in danger can call the “Trust Phone for Women and Girls” service – 0 8008 8008, available 24/7, free and confidential, for psychological, legal support or accommodation in specialized shelters.

The former president of the Constitutional Court, Alexandru Tanase, stated that the changes regarding the competences of the Gagauz autonomy in organizing elections do not represent an infringement on its status. “Gagauzia does not have enemies in Moldova,” Tănase declared in the show “Teritoria Svobodi” with Lilia Burakovski, reports IPN.

Alexandru Tanase also stated that Comrat is being “brazenly manipulated”. “I am very sorry that, after 30 years, other political parties are not normally represented there, and pro-Moscow oriented politicians control the situation in the autonomy”, clarified the former president of the Constitutional Court.

In his opinion, this is a backlog of Chisinau, for which the country will pay a high price due to the ignorance of the situation in the region.

He mentioned that, most likely, legislative changes will be made, according to which Chisinau will designate the electoral bodies itself that will organize the elections in Gagauzia – on the date set by the Popular Assembly.

“Gagauzia has no enemy in the Republic of Moldova. There is no politician – not even the most marginal – who would say that autonomy should be abolished or that certain competencies should be reduced,” concluded the former president of the Constitutional Court.
