Support from neighbors: Romania and Ukraine congratulate Moldova on Independence Day

On the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Moldova, the leaders of neighboring states—Romania and Ukraine—sent messages of congratulations and support, reaffirming close ties and shared goals in the regional and European context, reports IPN.

The Prime Minister of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, emphasized the fraternal nature and steadfast support that Romania consistently provides to the Republic of Moldova.

“ Romania will remain an unwavering supporter of the ideals of the Republic of Moldova and of Romanians across the Prut, as it has demonstrated over the 34 years since the proclamation of the country’s independence,” stated the Romanian prime minister.

Ilie Bolojan highlighted the unique bond of language, culture, and traditions, as well as Bucharest’s firm commitment to supporting Moldova’s European path: “Regardless of the times, we will face challenges together and continue to be a pillar of support for our brothers across the Prut who aspire to a better life”.

A message of solidarity was also expressed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who sent congratulations to his counterpart Maia Sandu and to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

“Our region is deeply interconnected, and together we must protect our peoples, states, and independence. That is exactly what we are doing,” said the leader from Kyiv.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of European unity as the foundation of security and prosperity and reaffirmed the close cooperation between Moldova and Ukraine, expressing the desire to jointly build a secure future within a united Europe.

Users from several countries reported connection issues with Facebook on Sunday. The number of reports rapidly increased during the morning, suggesting a possible widespread malfunction, according to the Downdetector platform, quoted by IPN.

According to reports in the international press, users are experiencing difficulties with authentication, loading the news feed, and using some features of the social network. It is not yet clear whether other services of the Meta company are also affected.

In Moldova, there are issues with browser connectivity, but access through the application is possible. Until this time, Meta company has not provided an explanation for the cause of the incident nor a timeline for its resolution. In the absence of an official confirmation, the exact extent of the disruption remains unclear.

The Downdetector platform monitors online service interruptions and centralizes user reports and other data regarding their functionality. A sudden increase in notifications usually indicates the existence of a technical problem.
