Seven candidates, most of them independents, have entered the race for the mayorship of Taraclia. The local electoral council has concluded the registration process for the new local elections on May 17, reports IPN.
The four independent candidates are Natalia Vasilevscaia, Vasile Gaidarji, Alexandr Borimecicov, and Nicolai Garanovschi. Ecaterina Iacobceac is running on behalf of the Party of Socialists, Oleg Cosih is supported by the Party of Development and Consolidation of Moldova, while Andrei Lambru is from the Party of Action and Solidarity. The election campaign begins on April 17.
The Central Electoral Commission has decided to organize new local elections in Taraclia, after, at the end of last year, the mayor Veaceslav Lupov, affiliated with the fugitive Ilan Sor, announced his resignation. He justified his decision by the fact that he cannot implement the city’s development projects.
