Moldovan canoeist Serghei Tarnovschi ranked fifth in the single canoe event over a distance of 1000 meters at the World Cup of kayak-canoe sprint and paracanoe. The competition takes place from May 14-17 in Brandenburg, Germany, reports IPN.
The athlete from the Republic of Moldova finished the race in 3 minutes 53 seconds and 70 hundredths, 3.88 seconds behind the winner of the event, Czech Martin Fuksa. The silver medal was won by Chinese Wu Shengyue, and the podium was completed by Russian Zakhar Petrov.
At the same time, the Moldovan tandem formed by Daniela Cociu and Maria Olarasu ranked sixth in the final of the women’s double canoe event over a distance of 500 meters. The Moldovan athletes recorded a time of 1 minute 58 seconds and 6 hundredths, finishing the race 2.49 seconds behind the winning team from Hungary, formed by Agnes Anna Kiss and Bianka Nagy.
