Moldovans have started to consume more potatoes, more fruits, as well as more meat and milk, while the consumption of fresh sunflower seeds is significantly decreasing, reports IPN.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, last year Moldovans consumed up to 1.1 kg of seeds, 22% less than in 2023. Also, the consumption of cereals and gourds decreased, with a decline of 4% in both cases.
In contrast, potato consumption has increased to 79.3 kg per person, 9% more than in 2023. Milk consumption also recorded an increase of 8%.

If in 2023 Moldovans consumed up to 65.2 kg of meat, in 2024 the quantity increased to 68.6 kg per inhabitant, which represents a 5% increase.
Egg consumption has reached 256 pieces per person, slightly increasing compared to 2023, when an average of 239 eggs were consumed.
Vegetable consumption has increased by 1%, reaching 115.8 kg per person.
