Romania will build, with European funds, the first kilometers of highway on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The same contract will also include the first 5 kilometers of the Ungheni-Chisinau Highway, between the Bridge over the Prut and the belt of the municipality of Ungheni. The announcement was made by Horatiu Cosma, State Secretary within the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Romania, reports IPN.
According to this, the last section of the Unification Highway A8, Targu Neamt-Iasi-Ungheni, has gone up for auction. The segment is 15.5 kilometers long and extends up to the border with the Republic of Moldova.
“The Unirii Highway is no longer a project on paper, but a historical reality that is materializing day by day and will unite, through speed, safety and modernization, the whole of Moldova with Transylvania and the rest of Europe”, wrote Horatiu Cosma in a post on his Facebook page.
The State Secretary mentions that this is a new concrete step towards uniting all Romanians in the European Union. The tender announcement will become visible in SEAP in the following days, after being published in the Official Journal of the European Union.
