The faction of the Socialist Party, the largest opposition faction, will not support the appointment of Bernard Lavigne and Herman von Hebel to the External Evaluation Commission for the ethical and financial integrity of prosecutors. This was announced by the leader of the PSRM and president of the faction, Igor Dodon, reports IPN.
The nominations were proposed by the Legal Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, and the Permanent Bureau voted predominantly to advance them to the plenary.
“One of the proposed candidates has already demonstrated loyalty to the Action and Solidarity Party. Without clear guarantees of impartiality and without broad political consensus, we cannot support a procedure that will only further consolidate total control over the prosecution by the ruling party,” declared the leader of the PSRM.
The appointment of the two members must be supported by 3/5 of the deputies of the Parliament.
