Over two thousand people gathered today in the Great National Assembly Square to participate in the third edition of the Great National Dictation, organized by Romanian Language Day. The text chosen for the dictation was an excerpt from the book Cartile copilăriei mele (The Books of My Childhood) by Vladimir Beșleagă, according to IPN.
The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Education and Research, Dr. Adriana Cazacu, mentioned that, since its first edition, the Great National Dictation has become a true symbol of respect and love for the Romanian language. According to her, this year’s edition pays tribute to composer Eugen Doga and writer Vladimir Besleaga—two prominent figures who passed away in 2025.

“Both left us this year—two artistic minds who, each in their own language, expressed the aspirations, pains, and beauty of our people, transforming the national experience into a universal message,” said the secretary of state.

The event began with a complete reading of the text so that participants could familiarize themselves with its content. This was followed by the actual dictation, carried out in logical units. At the end, the text was reread in its entirety, giving participants the opportunity to review it and correct any mistakes.

Those who achieve the best results will be awarded at a festive event organized in September.

The event was inaugurated by President Maia Sandu and Romanian President Nicusor Dan, who was visiting the Republic of Moldova.
