President Maia Sandu has addressed a message to society in the context of the parliamentary elections of September 28. The head of state warned about attempts to destabilize and called on voters to vote freely, in order to keep Moldova peaceful and out of war, reports IPN.
According to Maia Sandu, if the Kremlin comes to control Moldova, “the consequences will be direct and dangerous for our country and the entire region.” All Moldovans will suffer, regardless of who they voted for, asserts the president.
Maia Sandu stated that the Russian Federation is throwing hundreds of millions of euros to buy hundreds of thousands of votes on both banks of the Dniester, as well as outside the country. “People are daily intoxicated with dozens of lies. Hundreds of people are paid to provoke disorder, violence and to scare the world,” emphasizes the head of state.
The president further stated that the sovereignty, independence, integrity, and European future of the country are in danger if Russia and the Kremlin’s accomplices in Moldova succeed in their openly communicated attempts.
“Europe will end at the border with Moldova. European funds will stop at the Prut. The freedom of movement could come to an end. Our land could become a ramp for infiltration towards the Odessa region. The Transnistrian region could be destabilized,” mentioned the head of state.
The President reiterated that Moldova’s national interest is peace, freedom, and economic development, the continuation of the fight against corruption, and European integration. “We, the people of the Republic of Moldova, cannot allow peace, the safety of citizens, and regional stability to be endangered. We must keep Moldova peaceful, out of war and away from Russia’s attempts to attack or destabilize other states,” the President conveyed.
Stating that “after so many efforts, after so many sacrificed generations, we do not have the right to hand over the country to the corrupt and the traitors,” Maia Sandu called on voters not to sell the country to thieves and not to allow others to do so. “On Sunday, let’s show everyone that Moldova is not a piece of land that you can sell or buy for three pennies, but our sacred home,” the president concluded at the end.
