Footballer Lionel Messi has been named the best player of all time by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics, reports IPN.
The Argentinian dominates the list, followed by Brazil’s Pelé, the only player with three world titles to his name, and Argentina’s Diego Armando Maradona, while Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo is in fourth place, according to Marca.com.
Lionel Messi, 37, has won the Ballon d’Or, the trophy awarded annually to the best footballer on the planet, a record eight times.
Messi shone for FC Barcelona, where he spent most of his career and won a total of 35 trophies, including ten Spanish league titles and four Champions League titles. After leaving the team in August 2021, the footballer signed for Paris Saint-Germain, with whom he was double French champion, and since the summer of 2023 he has been playing in Major League Soccer with the US team Inter Miami.
