Judoka Denis Vieru wins bronze at Baku Grand Slam

Moldovan judoka Denis Vieru has won a bronze medal at the Grand Slam tournament in Baku, in the 66kg weight class. In the small final, he beat Mukhriddin Tilovov of Uzbekistan, IPN reports.

On his way to the winners’ rostrum, Denis Vieru defeated Konrad Shoka, who competed as a neutral individual athlete, Columbia’s Juan Hernandez and Japan’s Talikoh Fujisaka, losing only to Yashar Najafov of Azerbaijan in the semifinals.

Lieutenant-major Denis Vieru works on a contract basis at the Physical Training and Sports Section of the General Inspectorate of Carabineers. Over the past few years, he achieved a number of notable results on the international sports arena, making Moldova famous at international level, the Inspectorate said in a message.

Users from several countries reported connection issues with Facebook on Sunday. The number of reports rapidly increased during the morning, suggesting a possible widespread malfunction, according to the Downdetector platform, quoted by IPN.

In the absence of an official confirmation, the exact extent of the disruption remains unclear.

The Downdetector platform monitors online service interruptions and centralizes user reports and other data regarding their functionality. A sudden increase in notifications usually indicates the existence of a technical problem.
