In most schools in Chisinau The Last Sound will take place on the morning of May 30

The solemn Last Sound of the School Year will take place on the morning of May 30 in almost all schools in the capital. The announcement was made by Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the General Directorate of Education, Youth and Sport in Chisinau, IPN reports.

According to him, the decision was taken following consultations with the heads of educational institutions, but also on the basis of a questionnaire among school administrations. Out of the 150 schools, 146 opted to organize the festive float on the morning of Friday 30 May.

“It is an activity that is part of the school year, during which children with outstanding performance are awarded, as well as teachers. It is a solemn event, awaited by the whole educational community”, said Andrei Pavaloi.

The head of DGETS also pointed out that, according to the Education Code, headmasters are free to determine the program of activities in the institution. Thus, instead of organizing the Last Sound after the end of classes, as initially proposed, it was recommended to change the timetable to 30 May in order to preserve the festive and symbolic character of the event.

“The principals were categorically against holding the ceremony after school. Following discussions and analysis, we recommended that the activity should take place in the morning”, added Andrei Pavaloi.

The Ministry of Education and Research has previously adopted a decision allowing the end-of-school festivities to take place either on May 30 after the end of lessons or on May 31.

Last year, on the eve of September 1, a circular was issued by which educational institutions, following the decision of the Teachers’ Council, were entitled to decide the time and date of the festivities dedicated to the beginning of the school year. As a result, out of the 1201 schools in the country, 108 decided to hold the solemn procession on September 1, Sunday, while the others organized it on Monday.
