IGSU teams mobilized to remove trees felled by strong winds

The strong wind in the Tuesday afternoon knocked down trees in several localities across the country, and intervention teams were called in to remove them. According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, rescuers intervened in the municipality of Chisinau and in the Soldanesti, Criuleni, Rezina, Calarasi and Orhei districts, reports IPN.

In all the localities where they were requested, the IGSU teams carried out clearing works and unblocked the roads obstructed by fallen trees, so that traffic could be resumed safely.

In the city of Chisinau, rescuers removed a tree that had fallen onto the roadway on Decebal Boulevard, and on Doina Street they intervened to cut a broken branch that had fallen onto the power lines and posed a danger to passersby.

Another intervention took place in the municipality of Orhei, on Mihail Sadoveanu Street, where a tree fell on a gas pipeline. Also in the Orhei district, in the village of Bolohan, a tree collapsed on a car. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the incident resulted only in material damage.

Users from several countries reported connection issues with Facebook on Sunday. The number of reports rapidly increased during the morning, suggesting a possible widespread malfunction, according to the Downdetector platform, quoted by IPN.

According to reports in the international press, users are experiencing difficulties with authentication, loading the news feed, and using some features of the social network. It is not yet clear whether other services of the Meta company are also affected.

In Moldova, there are issues with browser connectivity, but access through the application is possible. Until this time, Meta company has not provided an explanation for the cause of the incident nor a timeline for its resolution. In the absence of an official confirmation, the exact extent of the disruption remains unclear.

The Downdetector platform monitors online service interruptions and centralizes user reports and other data regarding their functionality. A sudden increase in notifications usually indicates the existence of a technical problem.
