Rescuers recommend that the population only swim in authorized locations equipped with rescue stations, and children should be constantly supervised near aquatic pools. The recommendations of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations come in the context of high temperatures and an increase in the number of people going swimming, reports IPN.
IGSU mentions that entering the water after consuming alcohol or immediately after prolonged exposure to the sun is not recommended. Also, people are urged not to swim in areas with unknown depth, where there are strong currents or aquatic vegetation, and to avoid jumping into the water from bridges, dams or other constructions.
At the same time, the institution draws attention to minors, who should not be left unsupervised near or in water, regardless of depth, and for those who do not know how to swim, the use of life jackets is recommended.
IGSU specifies that in the event of observing a person in danger of drowning, citizens should call the unique number 112 and avoid interventions that could put their lives at risk.
