The former democratic deputy, Constantin Tutu, who is sought in a criminal case, allegedly tried through intermediaries to influence the Border Police employees to allow him to cross without checks into the Republic of Moldova. According to the General Inspectorate of Police, Tutu would have tried to legalize his stay and mislead the criminal investigation bodies, IPN reports.
The IGP informs that Tutu has recently been on the territory to the left of the Dniester. After learning that he was targeted in a criminal case, he illegally crossed the border into Ukraine. From there, he tried to return to the Republic of Moldova. For this purpose, he resorted to intermediaries, to influence employees of the General Inspectorate of Border Police (IGPF). The aim was for them to allow him to cross without checks and not be held accountable.
The attempt was thwarted by the law enforcement. The investigation officers picked up Constantin Tutu at the border, detained him for 72 hours, and placed him in Isolation.
In addition to the existing file, a new criminal case was opened in his name for illegal border crossing and influence trafficking.
The procedural measures were carried out by the investigation officers in conjunction with the PCCOCS prosecutors.
On the evening of October 2, Constantin Tutu was detained at the Vulcănești border crossing point. The Head of the Border Police, Ruslan Galușca, stated in a televised broadcast that the former deputy had surrendered voluntarily. “He came to the border of his own accord. He will be handed over to the competent authorities, who will then take all necessary measures. It is certain that he came from Ukraine,” the head of the IGPF specified.
The former deputy Constantin Tutu was detained on July 22, concurrently with Vlad Plahotniuc, at the Athens Airport, based on the “red notices” from Interpol, issued by the authorities of Moldova and Russia.
