Eugen Doga was honored in Parliament, a year after his passing. At the beginning of the plenary session, the deputies expressed their gratitude for the great composer, at the urging of the President of the Legislature, Igor Grosu, reports IPN.
“A genius of music, a symbol of national culture, and a man who managed to transform music into pure emotion. Through his creation, he taught us to discover the beauty of life and of our native land, and through his talent and dignity, he carried the name of Moldova throughout the world”, declared Igor Grosu from the Parliament’s podium.
At the end of the intervention, the deputies were invited to pay tribute to him through applause, as a sign of respect and gratitude.
Eugen Doga passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on March 1, 1937, in the village of Mocra, Râbnița district, the composer had a career spanning over six decades, during which he signed hundreds of musical works, from symphonic creations and ballet to film music. Among his most well-known works is the waltz from the movie “My Tender and Gentle Beast”, considered one of the most appreciated film compositions of the last century.
In recognition of his contribution to the promotion of culture and the image of the country, Chisinau International Airport was renamed last year in honor of the maestro.
