The central electricity supplier Energocom has launched the marketing procedure for origin guarantees for electricity produced from renewable sources during the period July – December 2025, reports IPN.
Licensed electricity suppliers and end consumers can submit bids to the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE), with the deadline being February 20th.
Guarantees of origin are electronic documents that certify that a certain amount of electrical energy has been produced from renewable sources. For each MWh of energy, at most one guarantee of origin is issued, making each green MWh identifiable.
The certificates are issued by ANRE, and Energocom organizes the auctions for their sale.
The first auction was announced at the end of October last year, with approximately 9,000 origin guarantees being traded. In November, ANRE launched an electronic register of origin guarantees, which allows for the recording, transfer, and use of these in a transparent and interoperable system with European registers.
The opening of an account in the registry is made based on a request and involves the payment of an annual probate fee to ANRE, which for 2026 amounts to 3,027 lei.
